Develop the front end engineering and design document and regulatory applications, request for qualification and request for purchase processes for the EPC vendor selection. Coordinate the regulatory requirements for noise assessment, participant involvement program and environmental compliance. Confidential Client - Grid Scale Solar and Battery Storage Facility – Ancillary Services Advisor
Provide technical advice for the installation of 10 MW solar and +/- 5 MW battery storage facility to ensure compliance with interconnection requirements and ancillary service requirements for the provision of spinning reserves. Represent the client in meetings with the ISO and the battery system vendor.

Provide services to confirm compliance to Alberta Reliability Standards, ISO rules and other applicable regulations, rules or standards. Assist the client to update the processes in a timely manner when changes to the afore mentioned standards, rules and regulations are made. Review maintenance records to produce required documentation to show compliance with the Electrical Quality Management Process.
Suncor Energy Inc., Firebag Wellpads and Gathering Lines, Ft McMurray, AB
Develop specifications and design criteria for skid mounted 144 kV, 15 MVA substations including protection and control philosophy, single line and single line protection diagrams and equipment layout. For the 144 kV system developed the overall layout of the system, performed voltage level optimization studies (72 kV versus 144 kV), short circuit and load flow studies. Reviewed the vendor’s bids and made recommendations for vendor selection.
FortisBC, Brillant Terminal Station, Castlegar, BC
Project manager and lead designer for the installation of a new line breaker; switches and protection systems for a 240 kV ring bus. Developed layout drawings, single line and three line protection diagrams, DC protection drawings.
TransCanada Energy, MacKay River Cogen, Ft. McMurray AB
Project manager and lead designer for the redesign the protection and control system of a 260/25/18 kV substation used as a utility interconnect for a 180 MVA gas turbine/generator as well as supplying power to a SAGD Oilsands plant and generator auxiliaries. As well as redesigning existing schemes the projected involved installation of new generator, transformer and bus differential and protection schemes.
ExxonMobil, LaBarge Co-Gen Plant, Shute Creek, Wyoming
Site technical representative during the construction and commissioning of a Co- gen plant consisting of 3 x 36MW GTG’s complete with HRSG’s, a 230/13.8 kV plant distribution system and substation, a utility tie and DCS interface.
Syncrude Canada, UE-1 Project, Ft McMurray AB
Developed the control philosophy and specifications for an automated and manual synchronizing system for four steam turbines, two gas turbines and twelve 13.8 and 72 kV tiebreakers. Evaluated the vendors’ bid and made recommendations. Interfaced the vendor’s equipment with existing, controls systems, circuit breakers, VT’s.
Chihuahua III Combined Cycle Plant, TransAlta Utilities, Samlayuca, Mexico
Designed a green-field 240/13.8 kV substation at a combined cycle power plant consisting of two 100 MW GTG’s and one 100 MW STG, unit transformers, five breaker ring bus and associated protection. The work included detailed substation design, generator, transformer and line protection panels, utility interconnection, equipment specification and vendor selection.
Skookumchuk Pulp Mill, 54 MVA Generator Addition, Cranbrook BC
In consultation with the pulp mill and the local utility, develop the protection scheme and protection coordination for a new 54 MVA steam turbine generator and the inter- connection with the utility. Duties included the load flow, short circuit and coordination studies, generator protection settings and assisting unit start-up.
Iwopin Pulp & Paper, Nigeria
Perform an on-site assessment of the electrical system including three steam turbine generators in the Iwopin Pulp and Paper mill and determine the feasibility of resuming construction after a 17-year hiatus.
Musi Pulp Mill, South Sumatra, Indonesia
Owner’s representative during the construction and start-up of the Musi Pulp Mill; resolved construction, design and commissioning issues and ensured adherence to the contract. The project included a 90 MVA steam turbine generator, four backup diesel generators and a 24 kV distribution system.
